You also take on trainers as you explore the world. There are elemental weaknesses, and the battles are set up like the classic titles.

The combat system is very similar to the Pokémon series. You are then left to go on a quest to restore balance to the world. According to the website that Gematsu found, you are a new tamer, who leaves their orphanage, gets a Nexomon, and joins a guild.
